On the Friday before fall break, everything at Eilermark School once again revolved around road safety education and getting to school safely. As we do every year, we held our “Walk to School” event.
The students explored different topics in their respective grades: While the first graders learned about how to get to school safely, the second graders studied traffic signs. The third graders focused on environmental protection, and the fourth graders went out as “traffic detectives.” Of course, practical exercises in real-world traffic situations were also a must: All grade levels went out onto the streets and were able to apply what they had learned right away.
We’ll pick up where we left off after the fall break! Our three-week campaign period begins on Monday, November 2. During this time, we encourage all children to walk or bike to school whenever possible. To ensure good visibility and greater safety on the roads, it is essential that they wear high-visibility vests.
It's worth the effort: A great prize awaits the winning classes from each grade level!
We look forward to seeing lots of children hitting the road—for greater safety, more physical activity, and environmental protection!
