The climbing wall in the Eilermark School sports hall remained unused for a long time. The reason: the facility was not TÜV-certified and could not be used for safety reasons. A disappointing state of affairs for many pupils - until a committed former pupil took the initiative.
The fourth-grader from class 4d (school year 2024/25) wrote a letter directly to the mayor of the town of Gronau. In her letter, she asked for the climbing wall to be inspected. A request that was heard: The mayor responded and arranged for the necessary steps to be taken.
A short time later, the climbing wall was officially approved and could be reopened. A development that brought great joy to the school. Several PE teachers took part in a special climbing training course to ensure that the climbing wall could not only be used safely, but also in an educationally meaningful way. There they acquired important knowledge about safety, technique and the methodical organization of climbing lessons.
Now the climbing wall is once again an integral part of the first sports lessons. The children are very enthusiastic: they climb the wall with great motivation and curiosity and gain new experiences of movement.
