Flower strips

In the 2023/2024 school year, Eilermark School implemented a project to benefit wild bees and butterflies. Shortly before the summer vacations, the grass and weeds were cleared from the school's parking lots. The pupils from the first year of school at the time helped diligently with this project as part of the "Butterflies" series of lessons. They were supported by children from the OGS and several other classes at the school.

After the areas had been thoroughly prepared and the soil loosened, the children sowed a special flower mixture that was specially tailored to the needs of bees and butterflies. The carefully selected flower species provide plenty of food for insects.

After the summer vacation, many wildflowers bloomed in the newly created flower strips, to the great delight of the school community and especially the wild bees and other insects, which quickly discovered the new food sources for themselves.
