Synagogue visit in Enschede

On June 27, the Protestant and Catholic religious education classes, accompanied by Ms. Bückers, Ms. Richter and Mr. Schnittker, visited the synagogue in Enschede. Both courses had already studied the basics of Judaism beforehand and the children were very excited to see what awaited them there.

We took the train to the neighboring Dutch city in the morning in summer temperatures. After a short walk and a stop for breakfast, we reached the synagogue in Prinsenstraat. In two groups, we were given child-friendly tours of the almost 100-year-old place of worship. The pupils were particularly impressed by the large prayer room with its domed roof and the numerous golden decorations on the walls. The children asked many questions, all of which were answered patiently and expertly. At the end there was even extra praise for the children, who had already brought a lot of prior knowledge with them.

The day came to a great end in the nearby park. Climbing trees and a delicious ice cream in the shade rounded off the day for the children.

At the end, the children took the train back to Gronau, where they were met by their parents.

It was a great and worthwhile visit to Enschede.
